Absolutely not! Signing up on Xpertin is free of charge. Whether you would like to find a project to work on or find a freelancer to work on your project, creating an account with us is free.

Freelancers' Questions


How do I get started as a freelance expert?
First you need to open an account with us. Signing up takes a few seconds only. Next you will need to add some information to your profile in order for employers to know more about you and whether you are qualified to perform the work needed. Adding at least 1 skill to your profile is required for you to bid on projects.

How many skills can I add to my profile?
With the basic free plan, you may add up to 7 skills to your profile. If you need to add more skills, you may upgrade your membership at any time. Details of memberships and their benefits can be seen here.

Can I remove skills from my profile?
Yes, you may remove any skill you have added to your profile at any time.
However please note that removing a skill that is required for a project you had bid on will also remove your bid in case you have no other skill that is matching that project’s requirement.

Can I bid on any project I want?
You can bid on any project you want as long as you have at least 1 skill that is required for this project by the employer.

How many projects can I bid on?
You can bid on as many projects as your membership plan allows. The free basic membership allows you to bid on 5 projects in a week. If you exhaust this number, your allowance will be restored at the beginning of the upcoming week and you would be able to bid on 5 other projects. If you need to bid on more projects, you may upgrade your membership at any time. Details of memberships and their benefits can be seen here.

What happens if an employer cancels a project I had bid on?
In this case, the bid you had placed will be restored to your allowance (up to the limit of your membership plan).

What are the benefits of a membership?
Each membership plan comes with an allowed number of weekly bids and number of skills that you can add to your profile. For more information regarding membership plans, kindly click here.

I am on a paid plan. Can I downgrade my membership?
Yes you may downgrade your membership at any time. Once you select to downgrade your membership, your current plan will remain active until the end of the current billing cycle. Once the new billing cycle begins, the new membership plan that you had selected will become active provided the payment is successful.

I am an individual. Can I bid on projects that are restricted to companies?
Unfortunately you may not bid on a project restricted to companies unless you have a business license and you represent a company.


I represent a company. Can I use Xpertin on behalf of my company?
Yes you may do so. After you sign up for an account on Xpertin, you may upload your business license from your account and provide us with some information about your company. Once we review and confirm these details, your account will receive the “Company” tag and you may work on projects that are restricted to companies. Kindly note that you must submit a new business license, when the current one expires, to retain your account status as a company.

Is there any fee for opening a business account for my company on Xpertin?
No, there are currently no fees for opening a business account for your company on Xpertin.


Can I change or delete my bid?
Yes you may delete or change your bid as long as the employer did not award the project to you or to someone else. Please note that deleting your bid will not restore it to your weekly bid allowance.

I am not ranking high compared to other bidders. Why is that?
We rank freelancers based on a number of things. The completeness of the information on your profile, your performance on past projects and the amount of work that you have delivered are some of the important criteria that we take into consideration.

I found an interesting project, however I do not satisfy the employer’s preferences when it comes to country, nationality, language or gender. Can I still bid on this project?
Not satisfying these conditions does not prevent you from bidding on this project as long as you possess the needed skill(s). However it is up to the employer to select the candidate he/she finds most suitable.

I am just starting to work on a project. How many milestones can I create?
You may create as many milestones as you think is necessary. It is always best to keep the value of each milestone as small as possible in order to minimize your risk and the employer’s risk. Please note however that a milestone’s value cannot be less than $5. We also advise you to consult with your employer and agree on the milestones to work on.

I have created the milestones. When should I start working on the project?
Once you create the milestones, the employer should start the first milestone. A milestone is started when the employer makes a payment for this milestone, and the amount is placed in escrow until the freelancer completes the work.

Can I modify the milestones after having created them?
You may modify any milestone that has not been completed yet. If a milestone is active however, you may only modify its value to a smaller value. If you cancel an active milestone, the payment related to this milestone will be refunded to the employer.

I have finished the work required for a milestone. When will I get paid?
Once you have delivered the required work, the employer will review it. If satisfied, the employer will mark the milestone as complete and the corresponding funds placed in escrow will be transferred to your account.

What if the employer is not satisfied with the work I have delivered?
If the employer is not satisfied, he/she may give you their feedback and ask you to revise your work until satisfied.

I have revised the work as requested by the employer, however he/she is still not satisfied. What should I do?
We encourage the employer and freelancer to come to an understanding if any similar situation arises. You may agree to cancel the project, have a partial payment, or do further revisions.

Can I withdraw from a project I had started working on?
Yes you can, provided there isn’t an active milestone. If a milestone is active, you will have to either complete the work requested, or cancel the milestone in which case the payment is refunded to the employer. Kindly bear in mind, however, that withdrawing from a project will negatively affect your chances of getting work. Also, if not done in agreement with your client, this might result in a negative review being left for you.

How can I receive my money? What methods are available to withdraw my money?
We are currently offering different ways for you to receive your money.  You may:
•    Withdraw the money to your bank account
•    Withdraw the money to your Paypal account
•    Make a cash money transfer (via Xpertin authorized partners)
Please note that the minimum amount required to process a transfer is $50.


Are there any fees to withdraw my money?
Yes, each withdrawal method has a different fee associated with it. This fee also depends on your country.

I would like to hire someone to work on my project. How do I get started?
You may simply sign up for an account (it only takes a few seconds), and then you can easily post your request so as to receive offers from qualified experts, or you may directly search for a freelance expert on Xpertin.

Do I need to pay in order to post a project?
Absolutely not! Posting a project on Xpertin is free of charge.

I need help posting a project and/or finding an expert to hire.
At the time of creating your project, you may select the “Xpertin Assist” service, and one of our staff members will reach out to you in order to help you select a freelancer for your project.

How do I post a project?
There is some information you need to provide in order to post a project. Click here to get started. You will need to:
•    Give your project a title
•    Tell the freelancers what is it that you require for your project (the more detailed the description, the better offers you will get)
•    Identify the skills needed for the project
•    Set a closing date to receive bids and proposals

Who can bid on my project?
Only freelancers who possess at least one of the skills that you require will be able to bid on your project and submit a proposal.

I have posted a project, but I need to do some modifications. Is that possible?
After posting a project, you may edit the information you have provided, except for the title and description of the project. In regards to description, you can add to it but you cannot change the original description.
Otherwise, you may add or remove skills, and change the closing date.
Please note however that by removing a skill, bidders who possess this skill (and who do not possess any other skill that you require) will be automatically removed from your posted project.

I have received several bids and proposals from several freelancers. Which one should I select?
You have several options to consider before making a decision.
Start by identifying the bidders who best seem to understand your requirements. You may chat with them in order to discuss your project in more detail. Check their profile page to see all the skills they possess and the past projects they worked on, in addition to the feedback they received from previous employers.
Please note that, by default, the bidders are ordered according to their performance on Xpertin, with the best freelancers being on top. However this is only a relative comparison and you might find that freelancers who appear at the bottom are better suited for your project than the ones appearing on top.
You may also sort the bidders by the amount they offer to work on your project.
Important Note: when you chat with the freelancer remember not to share contact details or personal information. All your communication needs are facilitated through the Xpertin platform.

Can I cancel a project I had posted?
Yes you may cancel a posted project any time as long as you did not start working with a freelancer.

My project reached the closing date, however I did not receive enough bids. Can I extend it?
Yes you may re-open your project and set a new closing date in order to attract more bids.


I have awarded a bidder and started the project. However I wish to set milestones that are different from those defined by the freelancer. What should I do?
You may communicate with the freelancer you have chosen for your project in order to agree on the scope and deliverables of each milestone as well as the amount to be paid. The freelancer can then add a milestone or modify an existing one accordingly.  Please note that you cannot increase the value of a started milestone. Also, keep in mind that the smaller the milestones, the more specific they are and the lower the risk for you and for the freelancer.

Why should I pay to start a milestone?
When kicking off work for a milestone, it is necessary to make a payment for the amount set for this milestone to give confidence to the freelancer to do the job. It is important to note that the payment will be placed in an escrow account and will only be released to the freelancer upon your request, when he/she delivers the work that you have requested.  If at any point, you are not happy with the deliverable quality, you may agree with the freelancer to cancel the milestone. In such a case, your money will be returned back to you.  This is Xpertin’s money guarantee we offer to our clients.

I am not happy with the work that the freelancer has submitted. What should I do?
You may ask the freelancer to revise the work as per your instructions. Providing the freelancer with your feedback will help him/her better understand which aspects of the work to improve.

The freelancer revised the work a number of times as requested, however his/her work is still below my expectation. What should I do?
We encourage the employer and the freelancer to come to an understanding if any similar situation arises. You may agree to cancel the project (undesirable), have a partial payment, or do further revisions.

What happens after I mark a milestone as completed?
If the freelancer delivers the work to your satisfaction, you may mark the corresponding milestone as completed. This will release the funds that you had paid for this milestone to the freelancer. Then you will be able to start the next milestone.

Can I cancel a project after starting it?
Yes you can, provided there isn’t an active milestone. If a milestone is active, you will have to ask the freelancer to either cancel it, or you may mark it as complete if the freelancer had delivered the work requested.

How can I modify the milestones?
The ability to make changes to the milestones is given to the freelancer only. To make any change to the defined milestones, you may communicate with the freelancer working on your project in order to agree on and implement any change to the milestones.

All the milestones that had been defined have been completed, however I would like to extend my collaboration with the freelancer by assigning him/her more work. Is this possible?
You can simply open a new project or create a similar project (will be pre-populated with the same information) and easily invite the same freelancer to do the work.
Note, however, that if not all the project milestones are completed, then you can add milestones to the same project without the need to create a new project.

What happens when a project is canceled or completed? Will it be deleted?
A completed or canceled project will be archived in your account. Any files that have been uploaded to the workspace will be accessible up to 6 months after the end of the project. After the 6 months period have passed, the project will stay archived however all files will be removed.

I would like to hire the freelancer I have worked with again for a new project. How can I do this?
Whenever you create a new project, you have the option to easily invite any person you have worked with in the past.
Alternatively, you may visit the freelancer’s profile page, click “Invite” and follow the process.
